What is Critical Hit Resist?
Critical Hit Resist is a stat that reduces the chance your character will receive a critical hit from enemies. In other words, the higher your CHR, the less likely it is that an opponent will land a critical strike that deals extra damage.
In the game’s mechanics, CHR does not reduce the damage of normal attacks—it only affects the probability of being hit critically. So if you have high defense but low CHR, you can still take severe damage from a well-timed critical strike.
How does Critical Hit Resist actually work?
Every attack in Aion 2 has a chance to crit based on the attacker’s stats. The game then checks your Critical Hit Resist to determine if that crit will land. The calculation is roughly:

Final Crit Chance = Attacker's Crit Rate - Target's Critical Hit Resist
For example, if an enemy has a 30% crit chance and you have 10 CHR, the effective chance they will crit you is 20%.
In practice, this means that investing in CHR is most noticeable in high-level PvP and against bosses with naturally high crit rates. For general questing or low-level dungeons, the difference might feel minor.
How much Critical Hit Resist should I aim for?
This depends on your class and role:
  • Tanks: Prioritize CHR because you will face many attacks. Even a 10–20 point boost can reduce sudden spikes of damage that could otherwise overwhelm you.
  • DPS: Usually, CHR is less critical unless you’re frequently facing high-crit bosses. Most DPS players will focus on boosting their own crit and damage instead.
  • Healers/support: Moderate CHR is useful to avoid being one-shot in PvP situations, but it’s rarely a primary focus.

In my experience, even a small number of Critical Hit Resist nodes can make boss fights noticeably safer.
Where can I get Critical Hit Resist?
Critical Hit Resist comes primarily from Daevanion Nodes. One example is the “Critical Hit Resist” node itself:
  • Required Level: 12
  • Board Position: Row 6, Col 7
  • Cost: 1 Daevanion Point
  • Effect: +10 Critical Hit Resist

Adding just one node early can be surprisingly effective in reducing crits from mobs. As you level up, combining multiple CHR nodes with armor that grants resistances can create a solid defensive buffer.
It’s worth noting that some players will supplement their CHR nodes with gear enhancements or buffs from allies. If you’re resource-limited, it may also help to buy cheap Aion 2 gold at U4N to quickly unlock extra nodes without grinding endlessly.
Does Critical Hit Resist stack with other defenses?
Yes. CHR stacks with itself and with certain buffs, meaning multiple sources of CHR can reduce crit chance further. However, it does not interact with regular defense or evasion—these stats protect against normal damage, not crits.
For example:
  • You could have 30 CHR and 500 defense.
  • An enemy crit would still be reduced by the CHR, but normal attacks would be mitigated by your defense.

Players often underestimate this distinction, which is why some die too quickly even with high defense if their CHR is too low.
How does CHR affect PvP?
PvP encounters often exaggerate the importance of Critical Hit Resist. Many PvP builds rely on high crit damage or abilities that crit frequently. Without CHR, even a small mistake can turn a fight around.
In practice:
  • Tanks with CHR can survive longer against bursty DPS classes.
  • DPS players might ignore CHR entirely if they rely on mobility and dodging rather than tanking hits.
  • Hybrid classes should consider a balance—too little CHR can lead to sudden deaths, while too much might reduce their damage output potential.

Are there any common misconceptions?
Yes, several.
  • CHR reduces all damage: No, it only affects crit chance. Normal attacks are not mitigated.
  • CHR is useless at low levels: Not entirely. Even a small CHR boost can help in early PvP or against crit-heavy mobs in dungeons.
  • Stacking CHR is always best: Only if you’re being hit by high-crit enemies. Over-investing in CHR while ignoring other stats like health or defense can leave you vulnerable.
