This November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is celebrated , with the aim of raising awareness about how widespread and persistent this epidemic is, which has also been deepened by COVID-19. Lack of access to energy also impacts women's lives disproportionately as a consequence of social norms and the gender division of labor. According to an IDB study , in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), the access gaps between men and women to different services related to electricity are small. However, the most significant gap occurs in access to knowledge-communication-entertainment. In the region, on average, 66% of women have access to knowledge, communication and entertainment services compared to 69% of men. The gap is even greater in some countries, such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Peru. This gap is important because there is a correlation between electrification and women's rejection of domestic violence , which can be explained in part by access to information.
