Linguistic sexism

For several years, in some political posters, I have read needlessly redundant words, which aim to underline an attempt to avoid what is defined as linguistic sexism. Some terms, as we know, are conventionally used in the masculine form, but the meaning is collective, they include both the masculine and feminine genders. And so the texts are full of "Hello everyone", "Citizens", "many", etc., with a great waste of words and ink and with the only result of making the text difficult to read. and not very discursive. I believe that talking about sexism in the Italian language is exaggerated.


Such behavior is also present in many American blogs, in which the Phone Number Data pronoun "he" (he) alternates with "she" (she), so as not to relegate women to a hidden corner and make them participate in the discussion. In this way the feeling I had was a little confusion: first we were talking about him and after a few paragraphs it became a she. Finding other solutions, such as transforming the concept into an impersonal form, was perhaps too difficult. Returning to the Italian language, does simply writing "Hello everyone", "Citizens" and "many" create confusion for the reader? Is there really anyone (I couldn't resist...) who can understand we are referring only to men and not women? It seems ridiculous to me to think of such a thing.
